Trick to Fitting Sprint Fairing?

Recently acquired a 94 Sprint 900, I'm near Toronto, Canada - a rare bike around these parts. It's a nice bike- sweet motor! I'll post some pics.

Anyway, removed the fairing to do some maintenance, what a bear to replace. My bike doesn't have captured nuts, you have to reach around and hold the little nut and washer while you replace the screws. It is really hard to get at the bottom ones - am I doing something wrong?

Also, does the plastic shroud around the gauges go above the little foam rubber strips inside the front of the fairing? Looks like they should but mine doesn't fit up very well.

Thanks,
Scott

Yes, it is a bugger.

You are not doing anything wrong, you will have to hold those little nuts as you try and engage the screw. It will help if you can develop a uni jointed wrist and long thin alien fingers.

I found the instrument shroud to be particularly difficult. I think the foam strip should act as a seal between the shroud and the fairing.
I ended up super-gluing the foam to the shroud in an effort to keep it in place. You have to be a bit brutal bending everything to fit. I went easy on it at first for fear of breaking something but after an hour of frustration, I gritted my teeth and forced the shroud into place - all was good.

Once you do it the first time, subsequent times are much easier.

Don't forget to put the mirrors on before the shroud, don't ask me how I know....

Cheers,

Roden

Add me to the club too. It only takes once and you won't forget again.
