gold valve installation

hey all, i just got my race tech gold valves the other day and after watching peter thede install them on the provided video(he is obviously some kind of sorcerer i am inspired to install them myself.

anyone done this before and got any tips?
will i actually need the 3 special tools that are in the workshop manual?(3880090, 388085 and 388080) or can i manage with some good old kiwi ingenuity?

cheers,
Hedgy.

I'm going to be having a go at the Sprint forks very soon but as yet I'm new to this area too...

One thing I will do however is instead of making a damper rod holding tool to undo the bolt in the bottom of the fork leg I'll be using my impact wrench as apparently this will whip it straight out without the bother..

Hedgy, which fork do you have, the adjustable or the non-adjustable?

d750:
one is basically a very deep socket for sliding down the tube over the cartridge so you can unbolt it from the tube base, the other is a fork assembler apparently but im a bit unsure as to how and why this one is needed, the other is the seal drift but im not gonna take the fork seals out as they were done recently and its not neccesary for what im doing so the thirds all good.

sailfish:
they are the adjustable kayaba units on my speed triple. ive got the actual gold valves and shims, not the emulators race-tech also make.

mot:
are the sprint forks the adjustable kind? also, will you fit gold valves to those too?

thanks guys.
hedgy.

Forks are the same as yours as they are from a Sprint Sport...I won't be fitting race tech though just seals oil bushes etc maybe springs but I think uprated ones are already in there if the history with it is correct.

I've only opened up the damper tube fork legs and did do the gold valve emulators at one point. Last summer I upgraded to the KYB adjustable suspenders. Hopefully someone will answer here as I should install new seals at some point.

Hedgy & Mot, pass on any tips you learn about the process.
