Great ride today...

G'day all,

Well, I went on a run today with some of the guys over on the Sprint forum and I have to say that it was terrific meeting everyone and you wouldn't meet a nicer bunch of blokes.

The weather was cooold but mostly fine, I think it was around 1 or 2 degrees when we left Windsor and maybe climbed to 9 or 10 during the course of the day. We were all well prepared though and I don't think anyone really felt the cold.

It was a pretty decent turnout for a week day, 10 in all joined in the madness, mostly Triumphs of course but my mate tagged along on his 'busa plus there were 2 other Suzuki's and Harry's mate on a really sweet K100 Beemer.

We rode the Putty Road, through to Broke and then on to Mangrove to link up with the freeway for a fast blast home.
There were a few quickish riders amongst us (not including me) especially a guy on a GSX1400 who astounded us with his ability to hustle that big beast through the corners, I mean, he was already sat down, half way through his first beer, when most of us pulled up at the pub!
I must say that the old Sprint acquitted herself very well amongst her newer and bigger siblings, she pulled strong all day and rolled on with the 955's and 1050's just fine. The cornering is what really lets her down, a worn rear shock and the rider's conservatism made sure of that, but everyone commented on how nice she is, T3's really do rock!

Anyway, check out the Sprint forum over the next few days, Harry is going to post up some pics, you will see ten really nice sleds and ten larrikin blokes!

Cheers,

Roden

Nice one Roden...

You'll soon be on their tails through the twisties....nothing better than stuffing it up the newer bikes on the old bus ;-)

Ha ha, I'm not pushing too hard until I get the suspension fixed but I did manage to finally get rid of the chicken strip on the back tyre!

I was following one of the boys on a 1050 Sprint and we were stuck behind a semi for a while, when we finally got the chance, he gunned it past the truck, I followed him and he didn't get away from me, not at all! I got around the truck and kept it nailed, hooked up another gear and realised that I had been in 5th when I snapped it open to pass that truck!

Very impressed with the old girl.

Cheers,

Roden
