coils did the trick...

after fighting with my S3 for a long time concerning the missing idle and stalling, i decided to change out the coils with brand new nology units. The original units are also made germany and have the same part number as the new nology. i have been into the carbs, check the ignition pick up, cleaned the connectors on the coils. nothing worked. changed the coils yesterday and the bike now has a nice steady idle and runs great. just thought i would let you all know!! ride safe.

Triumph used two makes, Gill (British) and PVM (German).I think Nology are PVM made, hence made in Germany. Apparently PVM are better than the Gill which breakdown from heat transfer from the engine? Saying that, both companies made the igniter. The PVM unit on my Trident became faulty after 25k,but the Gill make on my Super111 still going strong. (touch wood).

yes... and it would stall when idling at a stop. took me a long time to finally pull the trigger and spend the cash. but the proof is in the way it rides. feels like a new bike.
