Smile new owner 96 Sprint (Exec.)

Hi all,
Recently I purchased a 1996 Sprint. $2.8 k.
It has been rebuilt from salvage since the original owner apparently ran the engine dry of oil until it was damaged. The engine, side plates and saddlebags were swapped in from a '98 Sprint Executive so it's essentially a Sprint Executive, as you can see.

Previously I owned a '96 Triumph Trophy 1200 but it got rear-ended and totaled. I was ok.

I've been riding the Sprint to work since it's been registered. It has the D&D pipes and they're loud, but I'm having a guilty thrill over it since I am not a proponent of loud pipes.

Very nice looking Exec. if you ever want quiet pipes, i would be willing to trade for a set of slightly modified stock cans!

lump

I find that the engine is not as torquey, especially with roll-on at highway speeds even with less fairing than the 1200.
I may be the only Trophy 4 owner that wished for a triple 900. The torque is awesome on the 4 but I never got more than say 38 mpg. Sometimes only 32 on the flat Interstate if there was side or head wind. Curiously I got better mileage on mountain blasts than straight Interstate riding.
The triple sound makes up for the loss of torque and I'm not a racer anyway. With the stupid 200 mph speedo I'll probably never use more than 7/16 of it. I need to paruse the faq, but are there speedometer change kits say to like 140 mph top end or less?
The speedo seems to read even more high than real speed than my Trophy.

@ 2ManyToys

I will keep your trade offer in mind. Seems tempting.
Did you do the hole saw mod? or something else?
