Steering head bearing lock nut size?

Hey guys,
anyone know what size the locknut for the steering head is on a T3 Daytona, and where on earth can I get my hands on a spanner to fit the beggar?

Cheers
bob

edit - I'm after the size of the wee bugger that sits under the top yoke that you have to remove to get to the head bearings - I might have got the name of it wrong.

IIRC, it is 28mm. The wrenches from Triumph are cheap enough. The wrenches I have are from Triumph.

Cheers, Hinckley. I actually answered his question over in Mods & Shop; the adjuster nuts are 38mm.

Cheers,
-Kit

Nice one, cheers chaps - have just ordered one from Jack Lilley online from the UK. Honestly, you'd think that the Germans had never heard of online shopping. I have to say that I have never seen such appalling websites as the 3 local Triumph dealers around here, although in all fairness, when you actually turn up in the flesh they are great. Problem is they are also quite a schlepp away, so ordering from good old blighty will probably be quicker.

Cheers

Hi bobbo,

You actually need two spanners, one to hold the adjusting nut and the other to tighten the locknut. I used the Triumph spanner on the adjusting nut as it is thin enough to fit on and I use a 11/2" AF ring spanner to do up the lock nut.

However, to do it this way you need the top triple clamp off, which was convenient for me as I was installing clip-ons anyway.

If you haven't removed the top triple clamp, you will need two of the thin Triumph spanners. Also, the triumph spanner should have a 1/2" square hole in it to accept a torque wrench so you can tension the lock nut.

Hope this helps,

Roden

Thanks Kit, I have slept since I last had those wrenches out. I could not remember what size they were for sure.
