grrr.. 2nd rear brake light switch dead

and I don't even ride that much in the muck.

this one's less than a year old

Any tips on what makes these give it up so easy, other than a crappy design?

Long road I think you have been seriously unlucky as really there is not a weak spot there...any idea as to what may have affected them ???

I never did replace mine. I was about to, but then it started working again after I bled the rear brake. Not sure what else to say: try bleeding, they don't seem to fail all that often for most people.

Cheers,
-Kit

on further reflection, and thinking maybe the rear brake was a little spongey (I use it 20-30% against the front) I put my best Ninja brake bleeding skills to work and rebled the rear brake. That seems to have helped it move from working one in ten times to nine out of ten, but it would take locking up the rear wheel to get it to activate the brake light. Oh, well.

to hijack my own thread....

I filled in the gas cap lettering. What do you think?

Nice, like the lettering.

Mine was the same, it didn't work unless I pushed real hard on the pedal and then only sometimes.
I bled the brake and it worked better. It has gradually improved until now, 6 months later, it is functioning normally.

I figure it was full of gunk and bleeding it moved some of it and repeated use moved the rest.

Cheers,

Roden

Nice work on the lettering LongRoad. The black on mine is pitted so I might fill in the letters in when I repaint it.

I am on my second rear switch. I think it may be number 4 for the front????? I am not complaining though. If all I have to do is replace brake switches and the left front fork seal for the NEXT 12 years, I'll be happy.
