Angry 1996 Sprint disabled by Surface to Air...

projectile, during my evening commute home. The debris hit the unprotected slider tube? section of the front fork. The fork sustained a gouge, the seal was leaking by the time I stopped and I do not believe emery cloth will not correct-too deep. What are the recommendations on replacing/repairing the tube?

The usual cheap fix is to degrease the gouge thoroughly and fill with any metal epoxy resin/putty/araldite and rub down with emery when set.

Beyond that re-chroming the stancion or replacing it are your options. If going down the re-chrome route I would go with either a specialist motorcycle service or a local one that comes recomended -I have occasionaly seen stancions wrecked rather than repaired by electroplating services that dont know what they are doing.

BuzzBay,
1st, welcome aboard. 2nd, fill out the rest of your info so we know where in the world your at. If your in the states, you could try giving Forking by Frank a call(847-475-1003). They build forks, but they may be able to repair the tube also. If not, try a breaker(Baxters)for a replacement. Dealer would be the last resort.

Here in the UK rechroming is available but really new stansions can be available at the same sort of price (ABE All Bike Engineering)..so a no brainer really..
