T300 questions...VIN, fairing interchangeability etc etc...

Hi,

just bought a Daytona 1000 -91.
I want to make a 'rolling restauration' and needs to buy some parts to make them up before mounting them on my bike.

Anyone who knows which fairings are interchangeable between the different T3-series bikes (and maybe Trophy as well, don't know if that's also considered T3)?
I need to know which models and years that could fit my bike...

I'm also interested in fuel tank since I'd like to replace it, my current has a dent that looks hard to fix...would prefer to find a replacement to paint before mounting...

I've read about the front end replacements and might consider doing some 'improvements' to the bike that way...but may stay 'puritan' to keep it in original shape...

I'm also trying to get some history on the bike so all sources of info is interesting, I found how to read the chassis number and my bike has chassis number 606.
Anyone who knows if the Hinckley site started on #1?
Is chassis number shared between models?
...in that case, how to find out which chassis are Daytona 1000?

Well...an awful lot of questions...I know...but I'll keep on searching for answers on the forum and elsewhere...

/Ted

Welcome, Ted.

Serial numbers are shared between models; is the chassis number the same as the serial?

I don't know much about the short stroke machines, but the 900 & 1200 Daytonas have the most desirable front ends of the T3 series.

Any T3 fuel tank should fit.

I'm pretty sure the fairings can be swapped across the range, but you might need brackets as well. The Trophy is a T3; T309 ST was the designation.

Cheers, HTH,
-Kit
