Tach Trubbles!

Triumph Trophy 900 is the machine. Does anyone know which of the three cylinders the tach controls from? I believe it's #1 cyl. but need to confirm. THANKS TO ALL!

Tach signal comes from the igniter via the #1 coil. If probs, check coil connections, ensure clean and tight. Check connections on back of tach. If still have probs, may be tach internal connections/coil(not easily repaired).

Allmost forgot......Swap #1 coil with #2 or #3. If tach working fine, coil heading south.

My tach went way loopy recently and after searching through tach threads on this site I came up with the realization that I had good German PVL coils and by cleaning up the spade connections at the coil and re-crimping the female spade connectors right through the plastic covers would rule out flugy connections.

Well let me tell ya, not only did my tach settle back down to normal, I picked up a bit of zip in the process.

The connectors did not look all that bad before I shined em up either.
