G'day
this is my first post so a brief intro if you'll indulge me a moment.
I'm 44yo married with two adult children and I live in beautiful Tasmania a bit south of Oz (great riding roads) Started riding 27 years ago - fortunately for me my wife and both my kids love bikes (my son has a custom F4 750 MV Augusta) so I've always been able to ride. Started on Brits, went to boy racer Japs then retro Italian (still have an 80 SP Guzzi) and about six months ago I purchased a 95' Trident only one owner great condition (wonderful!!). So my question is this : I've been lurking for a short while and now I'm a bit puzzled by the evolution of certain models particularly the rise and fall of the Trident. Did it become something else; like the Speed triple or Thunderbird perhaps, or did it just disappear ? and lastly what is an Adventurer or a Legend ? are they American released models only I don't think I've ever seen one.
Please someone explain to a thickheaded newbie, I posted this a short time ago in the wrong forum - got some replies but not what I hoped.
thanks for listening

Welcome,

I'm pretty sure the Trident 750 and 900 were in the original line-up when Triumph started selling motorcycles again in Europe. Was that 1991?

When Triumph came to America in 1995 only the 900 was included. The last model year it sold here was 1998.
It didn't evolve into another model but the majority of the Triumph line during those years were of the T-300 family, of which the Trident is a member. The Thunderbirds, Adventurers, Legends, Sprints, Tridents, Trophys, Speed Triples, some Daytonas and even the Tigers shared many parts.

The Trident is kind of an overlooked Model. Not many around but I like it's standard, understated looks and it is one of the high powered models of the T-300 line.

Enjoy the new ride and feel free to ask any questions.

I have always thought of them as the "gentlemans Speed Triple". :-D

Yep, I doesn't look like a hooligan, but it can certainly behave like one

gallowglass -

j98sprint is right on the mark. Triumph was re-introduced in the early 90's (1991 model year?), and the Trident 900 was one of its first models.

The T-Bird, Legend, Speed Triple followed, and yes, many of the parts were designed to be compatible, so that mass production of these bikes could be more efficient and cost effective.

I just bought a 1993 Trident 900 in mint condition. Will let you know what I think, as I pick it up tomorrow. See photos on the Trident Homepage.

I bought a British Racing Green and Cream Trident new in 1996. Honestly, to date it's probably the best bike I have ever owned. I sold it to a friend of mine who is doing some minor tweaking to it and continues to ride it. 37,000 miles so far, with no mechanical problems, except for a bad temperature sender and a broken vacuum line.

Comfortable, easy to ride, and attractive (everybody loves the green and cream!) if it were a little less top heavy and handled better it would be perfect.

We'll see if the '05 Speed Triple makes me as happy.

You will enjoy your Trident: I command it.
