I bought a Trident 750 this morning as a replacement for a stolen Thunderbird Sport. After the theft, my insurance went sky high and the Trident was 1/3 of the cost of the tbird to install. I've seen a few (not many) Trident 900s but this is the only 750 I've seen. I got a good deal - 1998 Model, 13k miles, 2 owner, service history, bought from a triumph dealer for £2000. I thought my TBS was an unusual bike on the roads until I went looking at Tridents.

I had my 900 Trident for 7years, I loved it, there has not been a bike made to replace it by any manufacturer. When it finally vanished after one last body update in 98 I was gutted. The Sprint is a fine bike but I hate fairing and screens or any type. The riding position and feel of that bike was perfect for me. I moved to the US from England and two years on I have a 95 Speed Triple which down here in North Carolina was hard enough to find but I have ordered a bar raiser kit and a few other bits to give me that Trident feel. I did look at new bikes and although Triumph make some really nice looking bikes, nothing grabbed me like the Trident did. From the first day of ownership to her last wash before the new owner took her away, a grin always came across my face when I looked and she was always a great looking bike, Green and Cream and built like a tank. Never missed a beat and just had that feeling of quality. I just wish Triumph would do the Sprint unfaired, I even pay more to get one like that. I say bring back the Trident for all of us who want new Triumphs but don't want to be surrounded in plastic or ride anything with any Harley/cruiser influences. All the other makes do still give you this as a choice why not Triumph. Like I said I wanted a new one but I rather have a 10 year old 30k mile Speed Triple as a compromise than sell my tastes down the river. I love Triumph and will continue to support them and wait for the day my bike come rolling out of Hinkley once more. OK sorry got a bit carried away there.
Cheers
Nic

Awwwwwww Nic :-| Completely agree M8. Unfaird bikes rule and the Trident was the king for me or in my case is still :-D you can keep all that plastic stuff as long as it don't rain :lalala: On a naked bike your so much closer to nature and in tune with the environment around you. Long live the king long live the Trident

Hi All

Got this from an add on E-bay and a description of my 97 Sprint Sports?

Apparently quite a good bike with the adjustable susspention:

TRIUMPHS ANSWER TO THE HONDA VFR 800, LIMITED EDITION WITH SPORT SUSPENSION BORROWED FROM THE DAYTONA, HENCE SUPER HANDLING COMFEY SPORTS TOURER

Is this correct?

Hi Andy

I did not get any where near the great price of £1300 which you paid for your Sprint Sport

But I do have warranty and it is serviced and all that dealer care polarva

I would say that I ended paying around £2000 for my red Triumph and with the package I got although not a cheap as yours I am delighted

4 hours till I pick her up )

I paid £1500 for my 1996, 3600 miles, 750cc Trident with over £1000 worth of upgrades. Given that the bike had full Triumph Service history etc i consider I got a very good deal. The Sprint sport would fetch more esp as a 900cc engined one so providing it is in very good nick then £2000 for a 1997 model is not a bad deal at all IMO. :-D

Hi all

Well today I picked up my new bike and it rained all day! It was very windy so I only managed about 50 miles b4 I called it a day

The overall impression was of how surefooted the bike felt and the deceptivness of the power delivery, like fast to about the ton (Obviously on a test track I know)

If I could figure out how to post pictures on here I would, but I must be a dumb biker!

If anyone can shed light?

Thanking ya'll in advance for your replies

Hi Les

I have to date covered about 300 miles on my new pride and joy :-D :-D and I can't stop smiling!!

I can definately feel the mentioned top heaveyness when doing slow turns etc, but I am watching for it and it is not a problem. The bike has loads of grunt and because of how the power is delivered deceptively quick!

It handles superbly and inspires me to take corners just a little faster than I used to on the Diversion.

I would ask this les it does tend to patter' at the front end when doing 30 in town (sort of a thrumming) do I need to adjust the preload?

All in all I am one happy biker and with the weather being nice I can't keep off my new toy!!

I have seen 130mph (on a test track of course) is this about what the bike will do? or is there a little more?

I got 40 MPG outa my first tank full, also is this about right?

Thanking you all in advance for your replies
