hi everyone
just got myself a '99 sp'900 sport. Its been standing a fair while.I fired her up, all ok then switched off, later noticed fuel dripping from air box, stood her up and fuel poured for a few secs from air box drain pipe.
Any advice to solve this would save me a lt of time.

Cheers!!! :???:

If it's coming out of the air box, it's probably a carburator float stuck open. It allows the bowl to overfill and seep into the air box. I think I saw the same problem in one of the other forums. Check Daytona and Trophy (perhaps the Speed Triple) forums. The current Sprints, T500 Speed 3s and Daytonas are fuel injected, so they won't have the same problems.

There may be a simple fix, but I suspect you'll have to remove and clean the carbs. Probably a good idea anyway.

I had the same thing happen after I took the carbs out, cleaned them up, put in new gaskets and a jet kit. Gas was coming out of the airbox. I figured it was a stuck float so I gently tapped the carbs on either end with a rubber mallet. It obviously worked because it stopped leaking. BTW - it was on a 95 S3. Good luck.

hi
thanks for the advise.I've had the carbs out and cleaned them. With the carbs out i put fuel in and one carb leaks fuel from jets (i think its the jets, two small holes one larger then the other).
Is this still likely to be the float stuck?
