Un-comfy leg position...Trident

Something i've noticed riding my 92 Trident is that my legs get as uncomfy as when riding my sports bike!!

The Trident is the first non-sports bike i've owned, and the seat comfort / arm, wrist comfort is a nice change....but my legs really start to get cramp after 60mile or so!!

Im thinking the pegs are perhaps to high for the type of bike...or at least what im intending on using it for; I would happily lose a tad ground clearence for a more relaxed leg position.

Any ideas??
Thanks

If you look at the brackets, the pegs can be moved between a lower/more forward position & a higher/more rearward position. Brake & gear change levers & linkages may have to be changed to move them; I haven't done it myself so I'm not sure. Anyway, maybe that helps?

Cheers,
-Kit

If you move them to the lowest position and the pegs still seem too high you could try a set from a Buell. Here's a pic of the pegs I put on my RS. They did require some grinding and filing but they didn't take too much work to fit.

Seumas,
Have the sparklers touched the ground on those pegs?

Poacher,
The early Trident's have the pegs mounted higher/back than the later Trident's. However, the frame is the same. You can lower the pegs without any probs, but you will need to get the shift and brake linkage rods from a later Trident(shorter shift rod, longer brake rod) or have them fabed. That will move the pegs down and forward appx 2". Also, not sure how that will effect the heal guard. May be able to use yours or may have to get a set from the later Trident's. I think the change was made in '95 or '96, but not sure. Not sure if the exhaust will be in the way. The newer Trident's have a different bend in the header pipe to lower the muffler appx 2" from the earlier Tridents.

sailfish--not yet, but I haven't really been trying either

poacher--IIRC they were from an XB9R. Yes, the Buells are sporty bikes. The pegs would mount in your brackets, but because of the design of the pegs they would drop your feet by almost an inch.

Thanks, I've looked at my Trident and i cant see any second footpeg mounting?? not for the peg or the bracket?

Surely the mounting would have to move the whole peg / brake arm / gear lever etc as one unit to keep all in line and for the return spring to function.

My peg passes through the gear/brake lever,so the whole bracket must move down and forward, yet i cant see any other location threads??

Poacher,
There is a hole down/forward of the footpeg mounting. It should have a rubber/plastic plug in it. Pry the plug out and that's where the footpeg bolts in. Yes, the whole footpeg brake/shift lever moves together. After you relocate, put the plug back in the other hole. You will have to get new shift/brake linkage rods from the later Trident('96 or later) or have the rods fabricated. You'll find the brake rod too short, and the shift rod too long.

Hope this helps.
