thoughts on 96 S3 / MOds? pics?

I'm very slightly considering a 96 S3 to satisty my agressive urges. .. and because the more I ride my TBS, the more I think its worth keeping for a looooong time... and thus I'm not sure taking it to a track day is a risk I want to take.

Anyway, a nice '96 has presented itself.. and it really keeps calling me. I think it'd be fun to have a more aggressive street fighter maybe learn on at the track, and throw through the nearby twisties. I can always take the TBS with bags and racks for the long haul stuff.

So, any thoughts about that vintage? were they prone to any problems I should look out for if I go check out the bike? Are there much in the way of mods that were/are available as far as pre-fabbed stuff? I kind of like the clunky looking back end in a weird 90s way. . . any other good seat/tail/cowl combos that fit it that look cool / work well / change it drastically?

I've been working through the S3 pic thread, but haven't seen too many. Any drool-worthy pics of what people have done to a 96?

Thanks for any thoughts on the matter.

Hi,
The starter sprag is very suspect on early T3s. Try and find out if it has been replaced with the heavier replacement.

Is the heavier one a later model OEM part?

That's a little vague. Why not?

FCR's are going to cost about $1200 plus push pull cable and a throttle assembly, hagon rear shock, Yosh pipe $500? and new springs and a setup on a dyno should give you about 110+rear wheel - cost about $3k = $167 per HP. Start savin'!

I've done track days on mine and not had any problems. She'll hold her own in capable hands.
