1993 sprint idle question

Disclaimer: I'm a mechanical buffoon.

But before I head into de garage I'd like to try and get some pointers from you guys here. My Sprint has just been put back on the road after a five year "storage" period and is running great above 3000 revs.
But below that it's rough and hesitant when I give it gas, the rev counter often jumps a bit when idling.

It also takes some warming up (about ten minutes before I feel happy about dropping the choke completely), but I figure that's normal on a 15 year old bike.

It starts great, at the first touch...

What do you think, it just needs carburating (is that word English?) or is there anything else that should be looked at when I take it into the garage.

The carbs have been cleaned and looked at when it was generally serviced a month ago...

any ideas on a postcard...

probably gummed up carbs and oxidised low tension terminals to the coils, air filter perhaps!

thanks trypcil,

would oxidised coils be a thing I could attempt to fix myself? (being a mechanical buffoon of course!)
I once bought a Haynes manual in a fit of ill-founded optimism!

Yes! Tank off, see coils, see leads to coils - separate from coils and clean contacts well and make sure of a 'firm fit', replace tank. Of course you have to separate the fuel, the vacuum line and the reserve sender connector to do this - it's a common issue/remedy that leads many to buy new coils before trying this for some queer reason. Tank off requires body work removal, there are some bolts on the side of the tank bracket(at seat end) at either side 6 in total - I believe the outer two on each side will free the tank.Good luck.
