I'm unfamiliar with your model, but I deal with threaded pipe and such at my workplace. Are the threads on the axle OK? It will be obvious if you look closely. If they are OK, then I'd try cleaning the other threads. As a last resort, and if the setup allows it, you could try to thread the axle in from the backside, and that MAY sort it out. Do not force it, go back and forth if you feel any unusual friction. Stainless steel is notorious for galling. Threads that are "galled" can lock so tight that a 3 foot snipe won't budge them (trust me on this, I've put a snipe on a 36" pipewrench and couldn't separate a 2" diameter pipe and fitting).
Good luck, stay patient, double check the obvious stuff.

Thanks Kirk, my model is pretty much the same as yours. The front axles are identical...and it was the axle thread as I said, which was causing me problems. Long story short; by grinding about a mm or 2 off the end of the axle, I managed to get the bolt to do up Thanks again, but panic over....now the side lights are another matter.....curse the MOT jobsworths! ;-)
On second thought, start a new thread. Put 98 executive in the title again. Makes it easier for everybody.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
