150,000 miles and counting

My 1993 Trident has just clicked over 150k miles this morning - seems a bit of a red letter day.
I do 100 miles a day round trip commute - she's let me down twice - only once I wasn't able to fix at roadside.
I've replaced (excluding tyres, brake pads, chains, oils, filters and other consumables)
1.Coils - although I suspect the primary terminal connection was the culprit in one case - soldering these on has cured misfires completely since 90k.
2.Ignition stator pick up twice
3.L/H switchgear - she lives outside all year.
3a. A few hundred bulbs
4. Steering head bearings (at 100k and only because I thought I should)
5. More L/H fork seals than right (sidestand?)
6. Wheel bearings twice
7. All three disc rotors twice - second set got eaten by EBC HH pads ! (now use EBC organic and floaters by the way.
8. Headlight glass - cracked by gravel
9. Rearlight lens - melted with brake light stuck on
10. sidestand switch - corroded
11. Fork springs - wish I hadn't and will put originals back when I have time.
12. about 40 yards miscellaneous rotten wiring !
13. Sprag clutch - have hole in g/box tob so easy to do ! (replaced alternator bolt while in there.....
14. Battery - bought gel one off Ebay - german thing - excellent even at -10C
15. Throttle cable (should have oiled it)
16. various bits that fell off because of me not checking tightness
Apart from that she's original ! And it's quite simply the best bike I ever owned by a long way and I've owned a few that have not hacked the 100 mile a day business.......including 2 BMWs even....
Still looks quite nice too - and pulls like a train right up to 125mph (I only do this rarely)
I think I'll keep her until one of us dies.

That's great news! I'm about half way there... mine is about to turn 70,000 with similar issues as yours but nothing major. Proper maintenance and they'll last forever it seems.

That's impressive, when I bought my 72k 91 Trident earlier this year, I thought perhaps I shouldn't spend too much money on fixing up a high mileage bike. Now I realize I've bought a bike with potentially loads of mile left in it

What oil do you use? I'm changing the oil in mine and just bought some Halfords own-brand bike oil, I wasn't sure whether a particular type was critical.
