Lots of Mariott chains in Austin.. I was just up there yesterday and got a room as a walk in at a Comfort Suites. Shouldn't be too hard finding a nice place as long as its not during the ROT rally.

Sorry, T-man, but while you were posting that I was spending way too much on the Hilton. (Really good deal, but still a lot of money!)
My bad on the hijack, but it's over now.
Cheers,
-Kit

T-man is good people.
I'm glad the Trophy found a good home. It just didn't seem right to let it go to waste.
I'll be popping in and out of the forum (lusting after a Thruxton now), but until next time....
thanks again everyone.

No sweat mate, sorry your experience was a sour one. This is an exception rather than the rule.
Don't give up on the T3's they are really rugged (usually)
The Thruxton is a sweet thing though, must admit I spend alot of time surfing the cafe forum....
Cheers,
Roden

Well.....what I found is not good news.....heres the low down
This morning I flushed the radiator, as it was completely plugged from someone dumping leak sealant into it. I then verified that the engine coolant was transferring to the oil... in which it was, very rapidly; however, it was not burning any in the exhaust, which was an immediate good sign that it was isolated to the head and the cast iron sleeves were intact.... I then began the process of tearing down the head.. everything was look ordinary UNTIL... I pull out a single head bolt that obliviously did not belong, as this head bolt had no numbers on it, like all the others, and had a different shoulder on it!! Also, one of the original bolts was already becoming deteriorated, think about that one, they completely rebuilt the entire lower end, cam chain, sprockets, tensioner"s YET THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE HEAD BOLTS!!!
I then looked at the hole the out of place head bolt came out of, and WOW what a discovery!! Apparently the technician that worked on it must have encountered a head bolt that would not come out, not so uncommon since the head bolts sit submerged in engine coolant and that eats away at them. It looks like he took an air hammer with a chisel end and beat the living crap out of the old bolt, thus damaging the head, gouging into it, where the top of the head where the bolt seals .... Thus there is your water/oil mixture.... This particular head bolt was the bolt located between #2 and #3 on the exhaust side...
This is obvious damage, so obvious it took me an hour and half to tear down the head and find it, as to the dealership having it for over 4 months.... I don't know about you guys, but looks like the technician was trying to cover his damage...
I will post pics of these tomorrow!!

****, Cheese and Rice!! And my wife wonders why I would rather spend the time doing my own work instead of taking it to a dealer!! At least if I screw something up, I know it. Dealer screws something up, they try to hide it until something worse happens. At least you found the problem and the bottom end is new. Sounds like a new head and head bolts and all should be good in the universe again.
Happy Wrenching!!
