I've drilled and tapped several other motor cases before - though nothing on the speedy yet. I changed my clutch plates the other night and noted the usual softish alloy used for the clutch cover. I'd say it's not a problem at all. Take it off, drill a neat hole and plug it or push a hollow bolt or whatever you plan to use to connect up to the breather to the airbox IMHO.

I have since checked the diameter of the hole with a vernier gauge from the old cover which has the crankcase breather hole reading shows 10.30 mm , would that mean I need to use a 10mm drill bit and ream the rest out for a tight fit, the breather pipe fitting can also be used from the old case as it is a push fit.

By the time you have drilled a 10mm hole it it will probably fit straight off. At worst you may have to set it in there with some araldite or some such...

Go for it I say ;-)

Wow, thats a lot achieved in a very short time, and you are working on it outside?

Did you receive the valve tool yet? If so, what do you think of it?

Cheers,

Roden
