Reverse Cones?

G'day all,

Has anyone seen, or tried, or have reverse cone silencers on their T3 Sprint or Speed Triple?

I wonder how they would look and sound?

Cheers,

Roden

Haven't done it, but they're cheap enough on eBay here that I'll be putting them on the 'dent if I ever have time ot get it running again. (The generics, I mean. Sprint Mfg. does a lovely-looking set specifically for our machines, but they're priced a bit prohibitively from my perspective.)

Cheers,
-Kit

Mecatwin in France used to be the reverse cone of choice for the Speed Triple....expensive but look great.

By the way Roden..I tried a couple of years ago to get th Mecatwin cones in black of course but only crome was available at £450 for the pair!!

I'm not sure but I think the company has now changed hands so stuff might have changed a little since then...

I have seen reverse cones in custom catalogues for about £60 a can though...don't know how they would breath or sound ??

I was thinking of adapting a pair of Staintunes off a Thruxton. They sound mighty fine on a thrux, could be sweet on a triple. I'm only suggesting this as I have a chance at a pair.

Also, can it be assumed that being off an 865 and going onto an 885, they would flow ok or are they built specifically for a twin?

I don't know yet if I would have to hack the Staintunes to fit the Sprint, I'll know soon enough when I have a look.
I don't mind having to make new mid pipes and hangers.

Cheers,

Roden

Man that thing is ugly, get an old or new Bonneville or Thruxton if you want to ride a vintage styled cafe bike.

Here's my 72' Bonneville cafe:

I agree, the T3 lump doesn't look quite right in that style. Thats not exactly the look I'm after though.

Love your Bonnie...

What about a set of the shotgun style cones a la t'bird sport? They could look awesome on a naked T3 - sort of semi-retro, semi-bad*ss
