Yes, drove me nuts until my little brain figured this out. Push the float assemblies in firmly too to make sure they seal properly. Cheap insurance and takes a long time to dissassemble everything again and do it over once you figure out they're leaking.

Wow!!! Only $17 for a diaphragm!!! Cheapsk8, that's a lucky break! Diaphragms for the vintage KZs I restore from time to time tend to run around $100-$125 apiece. I'm actually shocked that the Triumph part is so cheap! (And also wondering what the catch is...)
Cheers,
-Kit

Kit, I hear ya! I also was amazed when I saw the price. My buddy had to replace a few on a Magna, and they where closer to $80 each.
These might be cheaper since they just "pull" right off of the piston valve, so it's the diaphragm only. They're not pressed in.
I read about being able to repair the diaphragm with spray rubber coating, but I'm not sure if I trust this. I think I'll play it safe, and make an order...
Do Triumph/Mikuni have carb rebuild kits?? I haven't seen anything. It seems you have to buy everything piece by piece.

Baxter will sell you an o-ring kit for about $12 for each carb. It has all the o-rings and the bowl gasket. There may be cheaper but all these fit for me.

I've emailed Baxter about the o-ring kit, but I haven't heard anything back after about 3 days. Does it usually take awhile for them to respond? Should the o-rings on the floats fit really snug? Would it be bad to use generic o-rings if I found some that seemed to fit?
I also ordered diaphragms from Bike Bandit last Wednesday, and my order status is still "in progress", & "on order". Have you guys had good/bad experiences with ordering older Triumph parts before from BB?
I'm wondering if I should have drove the hour to my local Triumph/BMW dealer for the parts, but I don't know if that would have been any faster...
...patience...

Emailing almost any cycle shop, including Baxter, seems to be an exercise in frustration. They don't seem to work well with them new fangled computer things, email, and that internet. Phone seems to work ok with Baxter, and they they are usually fast to get it out - I typically get phone orders from them in 3-4 days, or a week if they have to order.
Bike Bandit = slow to ship. Sometimes really slow. My orders are usually right, but I have only ordered from them 3-4 times. I plan on 2 weeks from BB.
Triumph dealers around here can usually get parts in < week, but stock almost nothing I am after - nearly nothing for the T3. It is usually easier to call Baxter.
I suppose generic o-rings safe for fuel would be ok if they matched. When I did mine the float assembly fit to the carb body really tight and I had to work at it to get it worked in fully, but that is the idea I suppose. I may have read here somewhere what the sizes are exactly ?? (can't find it now).

I didn't know that Baxter's even had a computer. Kidding aside, it's a small place (maybe 6 employees?) but they deliver a lot of service for their size, you just need to call them. They always ship same day if they have it and they keep on hand more than the majority of Triumph dealers, all in a town of 149 people. (Kit, try to wrap your head around the size of THAT town.)

Baxter is great, but definitely call. They really should just take the contact form off of their web site & replace it with a page that has nothing but the phone number & address.
Bike Bandit seems to take a couple weeks longer than Baxter or local.
Town.... 149 people? I don't think I *can* wrap my head around that one! The building I'm working in later probably has twice that many people in it, & it's one of the smaller buildings on that block....
Cheers,
-Kit

Alright! I just got off the phone with Baxter, and I believe they're shipping out the o-rings today.
So I've ordered new diaphragms, float bowl gaskets, and the float o-rings for each carb. I think this should do it.
Thanks again for all the advice.

I got the bike put back together. I was actually surprised how easy the carbs went back in. It runs great, and much more responsive, but I looked down and noticed I now have a fuel leak that is dripping steadily.
I used 5/16" fuel line and was thinking this might be the problem (vs. using 1/4" fuel line), but after re-pulling the carbs, it looks like it's probably leaking from one of the seals on the carb's "T" piece that the fuel line connects to.
Has anybody else had this problem? What size fuel line is correct? Any easy fixes for this? If not, I'll be ordering the seals.
