it kinda depends upon your weight and the year model of your Speed Triple. The 94's and 95's.... I don't know.
The 'standard' settings for solo riding the '96, according to the owner's manual are as follows.
Front:
- Spring Preload (the top, outside 17mm) 5 lines/rings showing
- Rebound Damping (top, flat screwdriver) 6 'clicks' out or counter clockwise from the starting point of 1. Position 1 (maximum damping force) is when the adjuster is rotated fully clockwise (fully screwed in).
- Compression Damping (bottom of fork leg, flat screwdriver) 6 clicks
Rear: Some of the 96's had a damping force adjustment on the right side of the bike near the shock. Other's, like mine did not as it's reported that the factory ran out of 'em near the end of the production run.
- Damping force adjuster (if you have one) has 4 positions. 1 is the least amount of damping and 4 being the most.
- Spring preload that is the spring on the rear shock and like Mot suggests, crank it up.. to at least the 2nd to highest setting if your front springs are 'stock' also.
Here's some additional food for thought... in a nutshell. <http://www.peterverdonedesigns.com/rideheight.htm>
