Front brake master cyclinder rebuild

What parts are involved in a master cylinder rebuild? Do you replace all the parts inside the master cylinder ie. Piston, clip and rubber stopper?

I've compared the Triumph parts to the Kawasaki parts for the Nissin brakes on price and the Triumph is only $5 more.

I thought the Jap parts would be half the price....

I've not re-built a master cylinder yet, but with calipers it's always seals and pistons for me (unless the plating/original material is good enough to be rubbed down). I'd replace the lot if you're going to the trouble of replacing anything in there IMO.

I rebuilt mine with the Triumph kit. It comes with all the stuff you mentioned. I can't remember how much it was, but I think it was around $60 from the dealer.

It is pretty easy to do as well. remove banjo, remove the assembly from bike, remove lever, remove boot, remove hard-to-reach spring clip, pull out old parts reassemble in same order, fill and bleed.

In my case I did this in an attempt to resolve a spongy front brakes issue. The issue was still there after the rebuild however. A set of 'busa 6-pots did the trick though.

Good luck!
