Fast Flashing Indicator

This has been bugging me long enough so I'll ask for help now.

I have aftermarket mini indicators fitted to my Sprint. The left side flashes at a normal rate. The right side flashes really quickly. Bulbs are ok.

I thought that it might have one differing wattage bulb so I swapped the wiring left to right and vice versa with the same result.

The flasher unit is common for left and right, so I figure its ok.
Connections are all good, soldered and heat shrink applied.

Anyone got an idea where my problem is? Its not serious, just annoying me now.

Cheers,

Roden

hey roden i installed mini turns on mine and they all blink fast so i would think you have resistance in the slower blinking signals. possibly in the wiring but i have seen the flasher do this also on one side only even if they share the flasher. also mine came with resistors if they did blink to fast, yours didnt have the resistors installed on one side did they?

FWIW, the only time I've seen fast flashers on my bikes was when the other signal on the same side had a blown bulb or got disconnected. Probably a stupid question, but have you checked all the bulbs?

Kit - thats what I would have thought but yes, all the bulbs are ok.

Its a niggling little problem and probably not worth mentioning.

If all the bulbs are fine I got nothin', sorry. All I can say is that's the kind of problem that would drive me nuts!

Good luck,

Can only perceive that one of the lamps is a different wattage from the others. Even though they appear to be the same, it is possible that the actual bulb is different.
One way to cure it is to fit an electronic flasher relay which will not care what the load is and so will give you the correct flash rate.

DEcosse,

That sounds good, do you have any more info, like, is it a direct swap?

Cheers,

one side flashes fast

maybe one side is effectively wired in series, the other parallel. Pull one bulb on the fast side and see if it's mate goes out. Do the same on the other side and compare results.
