Angry Nightmare come true

I finally did it. I could not believe it as I slid across the track completely detached from my bike. My close to perfect 96 speed triple is now scarred. My frame sliders saved the engine and radiator. The bodywork and tank did not fare so well. I need a tank, and complete tailsection and seat cowl in black.

I plan on filing an insurance claim after I take all the tape off and put my road going bits back on. I am not sure how much the insurance company will be willing to put into a 12 year old bike. In the meantime, does anyone know where I can begin my search? If I can't find any close to perfect used bits, I am going to bite the bullet and buy new.

BTW, my search for a track day specific bike has also begun. Any help on locating an ugly but straight bike would be appreciated also.

Man that sucks. Are you are ok? You can fix the bike.

I know its an old cliche but it does ring true.

Thats good luck about the frame sliders! You should be able to find a tank no probs, the rear bodywork and seat cowl might be a bit harder. Is it maybe repairable?

Good luck with your parts search. Sorry I can't help you from this side of the pond....

Cheers,

Roden

Cheers for the help. If everyone can keep their feelers out and drop me a line if you find anything.

Ouch... I know you're pain.

I do have a used tank... but the dent and lack of paint probably make it worth about as much as yours...

I've had good luck finding spare parts on ebay but you have to be patient and not too picky. What I mean by that is you may have to get some parts repainted, new decals, etc. If you don't have time for all that then new parts from the dealer is your best bet but for around four times the price.

Here's a few parts on ebay...
