Trident airbox & carb questions

I've fitted a K&N into my airbox, but a couple of things have come up on reassembly:

1) should the airbox have a hose attached to it? There's a lug on it that looks like it's designed to take one, but I didn't have one when I removed the box

2) is there some kind of special tool to tighten the lock nut at the carb end of the throttle cable? It's impossible to get a spanner on it

3) Where do all the hoses go? Is routing critical?

4) The middle rubber between airbox and carb on my bike had a ziptie on it. I've tried to replace it with a jubilee clip, but the connection to the carb is oval rather than round and I'm not convinced that I've got a good seal. Is it possible to buy the triumph clips, or are they supplied with a new airbox only?

Thanks for your help as always.

Trident airbox

The airbox should have a hose going to the top of the clutch case.

Yup as Tubby says it's the breather hose from the top of the clutch case.

Breather tubes for the carbs drop down between the carbs..routing is fairly straight forward just so long as the don't kink of pinch.

You don't get the clips with a new air box...you just get the box with filter in, I'm sure you can buy Triumpph if you need but any clip so long as it is thin enough to deform when tightened will do.

Carb lock nut I haven't had the chance to swear at latley so I'm no help there..??

It's not the pipe to the clutch case - it's the one at the back of the airbox on the left hand side. I think it's the thing that Haynes refer to in the bit about 'draining the airbox'. I'm just unsure about what sort of pipe it should have on it, whether it really needs to be plugged at the end, or whether it needs a pipe at all.

Ahh I know the one...I reckon it's fuel line butter rubber will probably do short term, my guess is it's only plugged to stop it drawing air up it...? where it exits under the bike it would probably suck up a lod of dust/crap etc you could plug it with a small bolt. pen cap or the like ;-)
