Mottley 2 Trumpets !

Well I had a rush of blood to the head and have bought a 1997 red Sprint Sport, It needs some work so was priced accordingly, I've only seen a few pics so far but am expecting it to be tatty if not it will be a bonus.

Brakes need looking at and a full service is due but has MOT to August so it can't be that bad...? can it !!

It's going to be a work horse to ride when conditions don't suit the polished rims on the S3, I've got a ventura sports rack salted away somewhere so that will go on. Good news is someone has fitted Alcon 6 pots to it so it looks like they may go to the S3 plus it has a carbon front gaurd...we'll see. 22K on the clock so unless someone has been particularly cruel to it it should be full of life..

I'll keep you all posted...deposit paid, if all goes well I pick it up Saturday.

Congratulations Mot, she looks ok mate. I'm sure it will get the MotT3 treatment!

You will find it a bit strange having that fairing stuck out front, it will give good rain protection though. When I picked mine up I rode it 300klms home in bucketing rain and barely got damp! Then I stripped it all off...go figure!

Good luck with the new addition,

Roden

Love my 96 Sprint.
Did not find the new ones to have any touring in them just sport. So I decided to keep what I have.

Congrats, Mot! I learned to love the plastic real quick when I got my RS. I may regret that, though: the Trident was just not comfy above 80MPH, & the Sprint still feels fine at my record speed of 112.

Mike: My RS may have some sport in it, but I'm taking it touring anyway. I'll let you know how the NYC <-> TX trip goes.

Cheers,
-Kit

Kit, you mentioned that your trident wasn't comfortable above 80mph.

I stripped the fairing off and went with clip-ons and I can honestly say that I could cruise at 80 all day and blast away over the ton without too much difficulty at all. The only difference is the forward position provided by the clip-ons!
With the original fairing I copped a lot of wind noise and buffeting around the head, that buffeting has disappeared.

I'll be keen to see if a flyscreen makes any more difference.

Cheers,

Roden

Hi Mot,

What a great buy!

One word of warning - I bought my Sprint to use as the 'workhorse' and to save the Alloy on my Thunderbird in wet weather, etc.... What started as a "cheap" run-around, did not last long (i.e. adding 6-pots, sport exhausts, etc.....). Buy hey, great enjoyment.

Fyi, I have Ventura kit too. You may find you need new L-brackets, as each model has a slightly different design. There are 4 different part#s for the Sprint (pre-'95, post-95, Sport & Executive) and 3 different width of sport rack fitted. The importers Motohaus, down in Odiham, are very helpful and I am sure they can help with information.

These T300 modular models are great!!!!

Ciao,
Geoff

Kit,
When and where are you heading to in Texas? If I'm home, maybe we can hook up for a ride through the Hill Country. Spring is the best time to ride down here.
Either way, have a safe trip and watch out for the "Cell phone in one hand, doubledecafmochacinnalatt in the other, four wheeler driving mental munchkins!!"
