Dipstick stuck

I just bought a '94 (no removable cover on g'box) Trident - dipstick was stuck in the hole - had to destroy to remove - it is a different thread from my '93 model (much coarser)
Local dealer had a new one for £7 so no big deal but said this happens often hence keeping them in stock.
My old one (fine thread) has never stuck although i have always been a bit careful not to cross thread as it is of course plastic.....
Funny how the coarser version (about the same pitch as a plastic oil container lid) sticks and the finer not....

My '98 Sprint has the coarse thread dipstick and doesn't seem to be a problem.....strange!

Cheers,

I've noticed before that the coarse thread dipstick on my '96 really wants to cross up & I have to be very careful to get it in straight. Always thought that was odd, since the thread is so coarse.

Cheers,
-Kit

I nearly had this the other day.... took me five minutes of carefully lining up the level of the dipstick and gently turning to feel the thread bite before being able to tighten without it buggering the plastic.... weird.

Gee.....now I don't feel quite so bad having a sight glass instead of a dipstick!!

Happy Trails!

Mines a similar problem. Coarse thread, can go for weeks without cross threading it then all of a sudden no matter what I do it cross threads! Must have been designed by microsoft - if I had a screen on my bike it'd probably go blue
