Sprint Exec exhaust

I know its an old topic, but, has anyone successfully modified the existing canisters to increase the exhaust note? Not talking about gaining power or scaring the neighbors, just getting some audio feedback from the pipes, for what otherwise is such a great bike.

I don't know if anyone has done a "bafflectomy" on sport/touring T3 pipes, but I know the T3 classic guys do it all the time. I have a set of not-so-pretty regular Sprint pipes I could let go real cheap if you want to experiment.

Cheers,
-Kit

if you are handy with a welder and a hacksaw (or know someone who is) then you could cut the ends off, remove the internals and replace with some perforated tube like this-

then wrap in exhaust glass packing, weld back together and bob's your mothers brother.

Hill8586,
Did you do this on your Sprint, or the Bonneville? And did you have to adjust the carbs when you were done?

I did this on my '96 Sprint with a piece of rebar and an 8 lb sledge. I did it with the pipes on in, and it on the side stand. It took 3-4 goodly whacks until the baffles folded. It produces a better base note, but not a significant increase in volume. It had no apparent effect on the tune.

K dencuz,
Thanks for the info. Yes I would like to know what you used to drill out the baffles and how you went about it.

i used a 1" hole saw and it was a tight fit but it went through. i had to rig a extension for the bit because it is kind of far in.
