I drilled and pulled out the restrictor end caps off a set of Stock Speed Triple pipes that's now on my Sprint. On de-accel., I notice it has a popping, could mean a little fuel screw tweak, or something that occurs when the 'system' is simply upset. The increase in 'Tone' is minimal really, at idle there is a bit more rumble and on blipping too. As to when you ride I would say a slight performance drop, ever so slight - the roll on is a little less, wooly perhaps. It's all very metaphysical I know but there is always a doubt and chances are it's not a reversible route taking the end caps off. It might be simpler to pick up a couple of matched cans from a Scrap yard and make them fit. Just my 10 cents worth.

I suggest you don't bother - i can't hear a **** thing when I'm over 60mph.

Ipod doesn't compete with wind noise either......

I bought a pair of used Micron slip on's. They were so loud they made my ears itch. So I made a pair of restrictor plates that went between the can and the end cap with holes as large as the original exits. That helped but the tone was high and poppy. I did get a pretty good boost of performance though.

Late this fall I saw a new pair of overstocked Staintune's at about half price. I decided to get them because I am keeping the bike indefinatley. They are beautiful, and fit perfectly without the use of a mid pipe. Very nicely engineered pipes. I was able to put them on before the snow and run em a couple of days. They sound very nice. deep note, same performance as the Microns. less noticeable backfire.

Never tried the thing with removing the original pipe baffels.
