Bike Bandit gives AMA members a small discount. Not aware of any dealers that give RAT discounts, especially now that RAT membership is free.

Thumbs down

hello all, today i went to the local dealer to get sprocket and clutch cover gaskets. they had none in stock. i called another store(same dealer farther north) and the same issue, no simple parts.
so , i decided to call the parts manager, just to see why. well simply put , the japanese brands are the 'bread & butter' of the dealership. he stated there just wasn't enough storage space to stock Triumph repair parts. but, he would be glad to order anything i want.
i am one who tries to give my business locally. it seems ,to me, that this particular shop could care less since i am riding their oddball brand.
i guess i'll order online, saving a few dollars on each part. not have to pay local sales tax.... and still wait about the same length of time for my parts.

how's your local dealer????

best to all

Robin Johnson

Sorry to hear about your dealers indifference. This side of the pond I am very lucky as my local dealer (Carl Rosner) have a huge amount of spares stock and they cater for the Meridan triples too (which is handy for our racing outfit!). They have been a Triumph dealer from the 1970's and were one of the first dealers to take on the Hinckley models in the early 1990's.

My response to any motorcycle dealership who says "...but I can order it" is "So can I." The last time I said that is when I needed a spark plug for a Suzuki dirt bike. Some how it must be profitable to not have inventory to sell.

I get the same thing from my local Triumph dealer (the only one in the state BTW). They don't seem to stock anything for the T300 bikes. If I have to order anything I go through PJ's in Albuquerque. They've always given me real good service.

Not much better here in Sydney. My dealer never has anything in stock for the T3's other than maybe spark plugs and oil filter.

When I had my '95 Dyna, I could get just about everything over the counter, same for my Sporty.

I'm afraid that spare parts availabilty is something that HD do a whole lot better than Triumph.

You are probably right Robin, to a dealer, stocking parts for our bikes is just money sitting on a shelf with no indication of when that part will be sold.

Cheers,

Roden

Hey Skullza: you hit "Report" instead of "Reply", so I'm the only one who saw your post.

Roden: I actually just bought a Harley part for my T695 Triumph. Triumph dealer wanted $9.50 for the part & didn't have it in stock. Same dealer wanted $3.50 for the same item as a Ducati part, also not in stock. Harley dealer had it in stock for $1.50! Sometimes you gotta love globalization!

Cheers,
-Kit

Some smart guy at Triumph or elsewhere for that matter might set up an order site with exploded diagrams with order links to part # etc..., for web based ordering and mail to - perhaps T'Rat would get a link and all this would be mute..... please.

i am going to use Bike Bandit. they have a good parts diagram catalog. plus the parts are less expensive than ordering from the (ugh) dealer.
