Somebody in another thread just mentioned Baxter, so I thought I'd throw their name out there. They're a valuable resource to the community, so I like to buy from them when I can't get stuff cheaper.

Cheers,
-Kit

That's interesting. Not sure about your dealer. I've been using Bike Bandit for parts research and have been finding that their prices are the same as my "local" dealers which are Baxter in Iowa and Breeze in Omaha.

I used Bike Bandit only once but it took 2 weeks to get Jap bike parts. Baxter usually gets me Triumph parts in 4 days or less.

I usually have heaps of issues getting hold of gaskets for my 20yr old FZR, now what I do is try and salvage enough of the old gasket so that I can scan it!!!
then put some paper in the printer and transfer said image onto gasket paper
Voila!
Keep the images for future reference and away you go!!!

When building fresh motors for friends I order complete gasket sets, scan em and create a library of gasket images!! easy

Hope it helps

Good on ya, Ozzy! That's a great idea!

You wouldn't happen to have scans of the 885 triple gaskets, would you?

Cheers,
-Kit

Unfortunately most of my gasket library is Yamaha FZR and YZF, but I'm sure that if members scanned any number of gaskets for certain models that they could be stored on the Forum in a downloads area for all to use/access, just an idea.

Any site such as Photobucket could also be used if people were worried about it, just ask for details via PM's etc..

The same could also be applied to "O" rings with section diameter and id/od measurements, along with bearing numbers for wheels\single sider hubs etc etc!

Ozzy here is a riding mate of mine and has a very nice tidy, non standard older FZR 1000 Yamaha indeed.

It also sounds very nice, four a four cylinder bike of course!

He is also somewhat of a mechanical genius................unlike myself!

Oh, hey Dave! Didn't expect to see you over here in carbtown.

No worries, I'll be sure Ozzy's treated well even if his bike does have too many cylinders.

Cheers,
-Kit

Thumbs down

it just keeps getting better. i went to the local dealer for spark plugs. what an adventure. the so called parts guy looked in a Parts Unlimited catalog, and drew a blank.
he didn't know what a Executive was and couldn't find any 98 models listed. finally another fellow came by check the Triumph site on his computer, and viola' i had a set of plugs.
once home i decided to look in my Chilton's manual. only to find all the 885's take the same plug.
my faith in dealerships are fading quickly.
