It is possible that at the carb end the spring lever guide has a sharp edge when the throttle is opened causing the cable to chaff against the edge. Make sure the cable end is correctly inserted and when turned does not rub against any edges of the lever.
Ensure also that you don't have any play (slack) in the cable, it must be adjusted correctly to just drop the carb lever to its full shut-off position when the throttle is fully closed with the cable fully tensioned and adjust correct idling with your idling screw.
