igniter coil switching testing bad

My 95 trident has been running oddly as in some earlier threads. The dealer tester says that the igniter coil drive switching on #3 is "not passing diagnostics". It is still running, but a little odd, sometimes a pop, periodically slightly rough, and harder to start.

Any ideas on fiddling with with this or is it a complete replace? The box just plugs in/out in about 5 secs. I have checked the forum and one post suggested that igniters are often revived when they have a broken or cold solder on the little board, but I see nothing after lengthly examination.

I have an early 17xxx sn and the part is T1290060 - any sources for this part other than full dealer ($711.00)?

Anyone got an igniter box I can swap to see if it helps? Ya I know tall order.
