Newbie with project bike

First of all would like to say hi. Great site and have learnt a lot through these posts.

I bought (long story) a 1994 BRG Triumph Trident Sprint 900 about a year ago.

It was a bit tatty and I didnt really like the look of the old beast.

These are the modifications I have made thus far.

• all sprint fairings removed.
• front fender sprayed black
• face lift trophy rear seat panels sprayed black
• face lift trophy rear grab handles sprayed black
• face lift trophy rear light
• pannier handles removed.
• speed triple high level pillion foot rests.
• sebring 3 into 1 race exhaust.
• speed triple tank (black)
• seat recovered in black leather.
• risers and renthal style handle bars.
• trident head lamp and speedo with bracket.
• new mirrors
• mini indicators.

• i have also just bought some 900 speed triple forks! cant wait

My first newbie question is, The sebring slip-on is of course illegal to use on the road. the system works very well with standard jetting, very noisey!

I need to Mot the bike next month, so Iam after a roal legal standard can as cheap as possible. are all cans (except for the link pipe diameter) of universal use? when i look at sites selling cans they are all model specific. will the bike run ok with a standard can of the same diameters from another motorbike manufacturer?

Many thanks for any help.

newbie with project

Hi im also a newbie to this forum though have been playing with Triumphs for the last ten years (trident with daytona 1200 running gear) as far as the exhaust laws for the british mot stand they have changed recently and now as long as they arent stamped "not for road use" it is up to the individual tester to decide wether they are too noisey so as long as you have a good relationship with your local tester you should be fine or possible to fit after market baffles and then take a dremmel to the stamp "not for road use for the record my brotherinlaw recently took his 916 ducati to a mot station with a tough reputation and they passed it with 50mm full bore termiginos and that was loud!
hope this helps Jacko

thanks mate.

problem is, its really noisey, i know i would upset a lot of duke owners by saying i think its louder than a pair of termi's.

I quite like the thought of having a quiet can for long trips etc.

the bikes at my mates at the moment, I was wondering if anyone could tell me the slip on diameter for the slip-on on the sebring system?

Repack the can, that will quieten it down considerably!
