I recently bought a 1996 Sprint 900 and I want to run it naked without the front fairing? Can it be done? Would it require aftermarket bracket for lights and gauges etc?? If so, who makes one.

If its not possible to go without the fairing...are there smaller afternmarket versions?

Love the bike...don't like the fairing.

Thank you in advance - ST

No idea. The fairing would probably look good on your Hodaka though.

Funny you should bring this up. I was doing a valve adjustment on the ol' girl this winter and I got to thinking, she looks good with a double headlight and all nekkid.

I reckon that you could use the factory clip ons for the T-3 Speed Triple, the headlight assembly for a '97 S3, and a bar end mirror. Properly executed, that would look the business.

Godspeed,
Zip

I just bought a '96 Sprint 900 also...had been dropped at slow speed and broke the faring where the right side front turn signal was, so I took it off to fix it. The side fairing brackets come off no problem, and the speedo, tach, headlamps all are connected to the front brackets, so if you dont mind those, it works fine. Looks ***** mean too! The only thing you'll lose is your clock.

The only thing that looks a bit goofy is the mirrors.

deven07....Any picts????

I contacted WildHair Accessories about GSG-Moto Headlight/Instrument Bracket and they weren't sure it would work becuase its for 1050.

They recommended the gauge bracket for the 509 (just below it on the page) and a set of bolt on lights and turn signals.

Don't know if this is the best solution..sounds like $$$$$$$

Hey ST...sorry no pics with it off. Its REALLY easy to remove though. I think its a 3mm Hex, 8,10,12mm end wrench (i think I might have snuck a 5/8ths in there hehe) plus 3/4 end wrench for the turn signal posts. Once you have all that off, its just a matter of stretching it out on the sides enough to scoot it forward and up...and you got yourself a BAD ARSE naked lookin Sprint! It looks a little raw, like it could use some plastic somewhere covering things up, but thats a good thing! I mean it when I say it looks BAD...reminded me of the terminator movies with all the exposed stuff...I wonder though if it would be very good in the rain, you might run into trouble eventually.

Start with the hex bolts on the windshield then move inward from there, there are a bunch of hex bolts holding the dash on, but none of them have nuts, the mostly has them built in to the parts you're taking off, then move to the brackets...be careful to remove the metal pieces in the bracket bushings, one on front and one on back of each bushing i think...I forgot those and lost three or four of them!

Putting it back on is easy too, I'ts pretty obvious which bolts go where...the only thing I had a bit of a hard time with is the dash which is in two pieces and then has some tabs that you have to fit it together with in the middle and the back side. It fit together fine though.

I'll tell you I really liked it off alot. But, the wind factor was brutal compared to having the faring on.

OH HEY I just rememberd I saw a Sprint without the faring on it on ebay...I'll get you some pics! (its a '98, but close)
