Seeing that the new 675 naked is 7999Sterling and $9999 stateside - with the exchange rate hovering around 2:1 - I wonder where the profit is, or are they just screwing the Brits? Makes no sense to me unless the mark up is real high and they can make money thru' volume sales .... it's a mystery, any ideas? :???:

I was guessing higher pre-sale taxes, & after very minor investigation I just might be right...

A GSXR-1000 is $11,399 US, vs. £8949 UK inc. VAT. A Kawi Ninja 650 is $6399 US vs. £4895 UK...

Whatever it is, it ain't just Triumph...

Cheers,
-Kit

It's not just the exchange rate.

There are differences in the models.
Such as noise and emission controls.
Those CAT3 are not cheap.

I think the bike is priced at:

US$ 7,999
Canadian $9,999.
No idea what they get for it in the UK.

As with most things, bikes do seem to be cheaper in the US than other places. You're right, though, the weak US$ must be squeezing profits for importers like Triumph.

Surely the Dollar amount would be $15998.00 stateside if my math is right - Surely if you could order in the USA($7999) and import without paying the difference in taxes at importation - if only possible. UK users shafted again!

I asked my local Ducati/Triumph dealer about this the other day.

While I am sure that UK prices are too high (like always with cars/bikes etc), Triumph has also made a real effort not to adjust prices this year due to the exchange rate. Ducati on the other hand did not, and they have added an exchange rate surcharge.

Kit has a great point - UK sales tax (VAT) is included in the price, but is added on afterwards in the US. But at least where I live in Illinois, that's only another 7.5%.
