I bought a new tire on line. $136.** shipped to me.
BT-021, replaces the BT-020.
The dealer around here said they can not mount/balance as I didn't buy it from them.

I find this odd. More liability bulloney.
The local no brand fix it shop will do it, for a cost of course.

So is this standard practice? liabilty over rides the
dealer to just mount/balance a tire ?

I think your choices are going to be A) to pay the man, or B) buy one of these:

I am wary of all Triumph dealers as most have muppets working in the garage. When I change tyres, I just take the wheel and with the old tyre still on, new tyre in hand and the local Honda/Suzuki/Harley Davidson/Sea-Doo dealer take care of it for a very reasonable price. They will not work on a Triumph, but they will mount a tyre on a Triumph wheel.

I took the tire and rim down to my sis' house.
She has a tire changer and power balancer.

I wasn't in any hurry to get this done, just before vacation--which ofr me started last Friday.

Anyway mounted up a new BT-021 for the rear.

My pissed offness was the dealer wouldn't touch it.
And the lcoal guys are swamped due to Laconia/Loudon coming up.
