I am sure this subject has been repeated umpteen times, however, a search revealed nothing that I could use.
Probably more to do with my searching, than anything else.

So, I'll ask here. I am after replacing the current aftermarket cans on my '94 Speed Triple. Usually, I would just visit Renegade Exhausts and have them make something up, however, they have relocated from the UK, to Portugal (packed up, and went home).
This has left me in somewhat of a quandry, as I haven't had to worry about Exhausts for probably the last 7 or 8 years!.
Now I find I have to trawl through loads of different (yet the same) exhaust manufacturers, wondering which will be best for me.
I am not too fussed about street legal/race, but the removable baffle now used by some manufacturers would be handy. Ime performance is never much through just an exhaust change(unless you own a Bandit12), so again, I am not too fussed about 1 or 2 bhp gains and losses between manufacturer. I don't want anything too loud, the cans on at the moment have for me a nice 'fruity' tone, but I do have to be careful when passing police and through villages etc, which, if I am honest is a pain in the rump.
I would happily go street legal, as long as the cans don't strangle the hell out of the bike.
So, can anybody recommend an aftermarket can, or indeed let me know what the original (street legal) cans are like compared to race cans?.

Any info appreciated. Oh, and I am in the UK, so cans available here is obviously a must.

Not completely sure about the Speed Triple, but T3s in general have a reputation for being very quiet from the factory. The stockers on my Trident make less noise at idle than the top end does, and I'm pretty happy with that. (Especially when I hear an inline 4 with slip-ons go by followed by a siren.)

If you don't mind used, you can probably get 'em cheaper over there than we can find here.

Cheers,
-Kit

I had stock cans on until one of them cracked at the weld on the base of the right hand can...standard cans are built to last, look preety good too. They sound ok...better on the overrun.. nice and booomy then

I've replaced them with Scorpion carbon round cans List price 500 quid for the pair cough, stagger.) Ebay throws up some good stuff from time to time but Quill, Remus, Scorpion, also (I don't know what make they are) but various cans are available from what used to be Sprint Manufacturing (if you search that it will link you on) and a couple of others do that I can't remember right now.

The Scorpions come with removable baffels and sound better than stock with them in :-D

I have my eye on a stock pair of cans that are up for sale, but then I think a lot of other people are interested too. I have just found a nearby Scorpion Exhaust dealer, so I shall have a toodle down to them and have a look.

I am using Micron "off road" cans. They are not that loud to me but you can run about anything here with no hassle. They were a bit pricy here in the US. I don't know about the UK. Rejetting is a must though.

Find a Yoshimura or an early TTS system - the best header, far superior to the Sebring - which was Triumph's official race pipe ( I have Yosh & Sebring )but doesn't sound as good .And not too loud if you keep the packing ripe. I'm sure there's some out there still ---- Triumphant may have one! Cans alone... boring, I think Remus makes a good can still ! :-D

I found a pair of Micron round slip-on's for my Sprint. They look better and are incredibly lighter than the stock exhausts. They were louder than heck when I first put them on. Micron does make a "Reduced end cap" choked down version of the end of the exhaust which makes them bearable. I could not source them so I made my own output restriction plates which bolt on before the end cap. (not a big deal to make) I just measured the size of the output hole of the stock exhaust and made that the size.
Bike sounds real mean now, but my neighbors do not hate me.
I did not need to re-jet carbs and gained a bit of power in the process.

I had a set of Micron slip ons on my 95. Not very loud at all, but were stamped right on the top "Not for road use". With the crackdown here for after market pipes in Massachusetts, thats all I needed.

I put a set of Trident exhaust with the baffle on my triple. Sound great. Nice and deep. Not loud at all. Peter is the greatest, and the pipes look great also.

Check them out:

I was just looking for the spy shots of the new "Street Triple", or whatever they're going to call the naked 675, & I ran across an article saying that Motad had just come out with road-legal replacements for T3 bikes. Not totally clear whether they're doing highs & lows or just low-mounts, but it may be worth looking into.

Cheers,
-Kit
