question for any of you that have taken off your cal emissions stuff, When i take off the canister under the tail, do i need to block off those hoses, or should I just leave them since they are for fumes? :???:

Thanks
John

I guess I dont need to worry about it because as I was doing my fenderectomy I noticed that it wasn't hooked to anything anymore,,,I guess its no problem,,, :-D

My sprint exec started cutting out. Some of the emissions hoses had split and were causing problems in the whole carb system. I decided to replace them only to find they were not plumbed in correctly ~ at least not according the diagram in the Haynes manual. After I plumbed it correctly it was running rough so I took it into a dealer. After explaining all this to them they disconnected the emissions kit, but left it in place. As it was explained to me, it is illegal not to have them on the bike. Since then, I get gas fumes when I switch off the engine. The engine is a sod to start when it is warm. I can only start it if I hold the throttle nearly wide open,a nd the latest development is that when I park it on side stand it drips gas on the floor.

Does your bike exhibit any of these symptoms? Why did you want to take off the emissions stuff in the first place?

No, my bike still runs just fine, but like i had said, when i went to look at disconnecting it, I realized that it was already disconnected and just sitting there doing nothing. I never smell gas or see it dripping and it doesn't have any problems starting at all. Now, I cant tell you if it is all blocked off already because I haven't stripped down the bike enough to see where all the hoses go,,,The main reason I wanted to take it off was that the charcoal canister was strapped on under the tail, and when i cut my fender it would be visiable
