i own a 1995 speed triple and have been slowly watching the indicator lights on my instrument panel go out...first they flickered, then they were out for good (neutral, low gas, oil temp). then the other night i lost the tach...every once in a while the needle tries to jump around, but most of its time is spent leaning left! still have the lights around the dials and the turn idicator arrow on the cluster works only for the left arrow, not the right.

any out there who can "shed some light" on my darkening dash?

thanks in advance,
bfishma

the rev counter on my 95 speed triple didnt work when i bought mine a year ago , i spent ages trying to find a second hand item on e bay gave up in the end and bought a new one ,v expensive, the light s i hope the bulbs have just blown but it sounds more like a wiring problem if you lost more than one at the same time. maybe fuse?

Just a quick question along this same line, When you turn your key on, are all of your dummy lights supposed to come on??

When I first got mine I had a speedo bulb blow...then a week later or so I had main beam idiot light blow...

I thought that they must be coming to the end of their useful life so I dimantled the clocks and light cluster and replaced all of them with Bosch bulbs....didn't turn out too expensive. I have had no further problems for about the last 3 or more years now. It saved me from doing the job and then waiting for the next one to blow to do the job again :hammer:

I reckon it a bit like bulbs in your house...you don't need to touch one for years them they all start popping off within a week or so :???:

Buy the bulbs from your local car parts and not from your dealer...do take a bulb with you to match up...don't buy the cheapest brand

thanks to everyone for the responses!

motT3: i sure hope its the bulbs as this would be the cheapest and easiest explanation for my situation.

wondering though if the bulbs blowing out would have anything to do with losing the tach? as i said earlier, i still have the gauge lights and the left turn signal...and the tach still jumps around from time to time.

the lights are on...but nobody's home! :???:

Bulbs blowing and the tach problem I would have said were seperate. Some folk have split them and couldn't fix them some have split them and fixed them :???: They do seem a bit of a weak spot tho

Don't know if it was just the early ones that can go wrong as they used the same kit on loads of modals and still do I believe....

Just for ****s & giggles: have you had a look at the harness where it comes around the headstock? Some folks have reported rubbing there causing insulation failure & associated electrical gremlins...

Cheers,
-Kit

I took the cover off my tacho only to find that the plastic had cracked around the three screws so i glued it together and its worked for a couple of months. Now my speedo started playing up. I think its time to replace them
