Hi,
I have noticed that the right hand exhaust puts out more smoke/ emissions than the the left hand exhaust. On start up this is mostly noticeable. Once the bike is stared and left to warm up for a few minutes the exhaust on the right is visibly exhaling more than the left the left being hardly noticeable. The emissions from the right are white and normal looking (no blue or nasty black smoke) and disappear after the bike has been run. I know all vehicles will blow any collected moisture out as vapour when started, but just wondered if it is normal for one side of the exhaust system to be doing definitely more than the other.

Is this Normal???
Does it indicate a problem???

Any help or suggestions / similar experiences would be appreciated.

Cheers Jon

It's not a problem...it's not smoke it's condensation. Don't worry they all do it that way, mine included, it also shows up more at this time of year because of the cooler conditions.

Mine does it too - it was most noticable this weekend over in germany when the bike was covered in ice. Like Mot3 says, don't worry about it!

I've noticed it too but why the one side - and does it happen only when the bike is on it's side stand ?

If I remember rightly as the bike warms up if you feel the block, the left hand side gets hotter faster than the right hand side....why?

I am not sure but, the cam chain runs down the right hand side of the lump and might add a little more cooling to that side hense the right hand pipe sends out more condensation :???:

Other than that it could be the phase of the moon or the pull of the sea

Mine too. I was thinking that maybe the location of the crankcase breather pipe may have something to do with it. It goes from the clutch housing to the airbox, between number 2 and 3 carburetor. Maybe some oil getting into the combustion chamber via this method. BTW, my smoke also appears more visible in the cold.
