How do you know your clutch plates are bent?

Clean them, lay them on a clean plate of glass and you'll be able to see if they're bent.

Hmm they're still in the bike. What would be the effects of bent clutch plates?

cheers

From my experiance, the plates are robust. If you're feeling clutch drag or hearing a severe clunk when engaging the clutch fluid may need changing and bleeding.

If the plates are bad and need changing no special tools are required.

What are the symptoms with your bike?

Bent clutch plates? That hardly seems possible. If there are problems they could be from a worn clutch plate basket.

As some of you know my bike was sitting for ahile in the garage. I had heard that the clutch plates can stick together, this is what happened.
I jammed on the frount break and pop, they became unstuck. What I neglected at the time was that I could have bent the plates doing what I did.
It doesn't sound like I have bent plates by what I've read. No loud bangs, and the clutch engages and disengages fine.

What I have been struggling with is inner town riding, getting the speed right and stuff feels difficult. It's hard to describe, but sometimes it's almost like I am about to stall at or near 30MPH. I am putting it down to getting to know my bike again.

Story is I bought it, and then I got a part time job as a motorcycle traffic reporter and got to ride a jap bike for around 12months. Yup that's right, I am an unemployed rubber necker. So I've barely had chance to play with my Triumph, although I've had it a while now.

Anyway, I am contemplating going for a burn in the rain. Its a bank holiday afterall lol
