Hi folks...the Speed Triple was first available from Feb 1994 so this is a bit of a birthday for the whole Speed Triple collective...the MK1 Speed Triples (http://www.mk1speedtriple.co.uk/) are looking to have a bit of a do to celebrate and it would only be fair and right for the whole lineage to be part of what was started back then...idea is forming as we speak but wanted to canvas the collective for ideas on venues, interested parties and what we can add to this event to make sure we all have a cracking day/weekend of it...from previous event s it would seem middle England means we alll have a fairer distance to travel but open to all ideas...

Riding season will soon be upon us so get involved ;-)

Many Thanks

Count me in. Tiger is 21, Super III is 20 and Speedy a mere 18 this year. Which one to ride to the event? Just make sure it's not Triumph Live weekend.
As someone who's in Middle England then I won't get a good travel out but hey, good to meet up with like minded enthusiasts.

Mark, excellent idea to celebrate 20 years of the Speed Triple.
To me there is only one place we should congregate and that is Triumph Factory 1 in Hinckley where all the bikes were built. It is not used for production now but Triumph use it for storage and for offices (and a paint shop). It has a nice big car park, it's in the centre of England and I think Triumph would be up for it. We would probably avoid the period prior to Triumph Live but August would be good. What do you think?

Thinking a bit more about an event at the original Hinckley Triumph factory it may be better to have a meet up in May as this avoids the summer holidays if we held it in August. My thoughts are that we meet up at the Factory car Park and if we could organise a a mobile caterer and a marque to congregate in job done!

Have no problems if Super 111s want to join the fun..not that there will be a lot of them Lol !

So options list seems to be at the moment seems to be

1. National Motorcyle Museum
2. F1 Museum/Norton factroy
3. National War Memorial at Alrewas

Not that these are in any order of priority you understand ;-) and could also be doubled up ie make a weekend of it and do a second venue on the Sunday ?

Cheers

I have checked with the Norton factory and they only do Factory tours on a Friday afternoon so perhaps we give this a miss for the event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Speed Triple. My preference would be for a ride out to the National Memorial at Alrewas, a nice ride across country from Hinckley.

Ok descision time...I'll plump for the Saturday 17th May at the factory then we have a 50/50 race between the Motorcylce museum and the war memorial....

NMM would be the topical home for the event and more relevent you could say...

So lets do the best of all.......

Saturday
Factory meet am (pics chat and gather for the run to...)
The NMM Food coffee and a gander at bikes etc..may be more involved yet but will see what happens

Sunday
Cross country run to the War Memorial at Alrewas folk can come from any direction and choose the ride they like and enjoy for a relaxed meet before buggering off home  it's a good venue and well in tune for a Sunday run out..

Cheers

Ok so here is the itinery for the weekend if you are staying over at the Vic they do grub early evening stuff like aberdeen angus burger and chips so if you are interested John at the Vic is trying to gauge how many he may be catering for so drop him a line victoriacafe2008@live.com

Itinery is....At the visitors car park Triumph for 9-9.30am on the 17th security will check the names off the list to get us through to the factory and pics outside etc will then happen... then in for the tour, no real set time for the off after the factory tour basically when it finishes..middayish I would presume, then herd the cats for the off to NMM reduced entrance fee if you want to look around or just catch some grub upstairs or both ! Sunday make your own way to the War memorial at Alrewas for 10.30-11.00am just for breaky/coffee/ walk about more tire kicking etc ! Sat night at the Vic I think we have at least a dozen staying over plus band ale etc open to all Triumphs is they fancy a beer/ natter...so that's the itinerary obviously for folk to pick and choose what they wish to attend ;-)

Route from the Factory to the NMM ride out will be A5, B4116,B4114,A446,A452 and A45 ... ie head for Atherstone on the A5 the cross country on the Coleshill Rd before running alongside the M42 to Junc 6.

Don't forget if you are doing the ride out make sure you have a tank full of fuel as you won't want to be the one stopping 30 odd bikes as you fuel up :tongueout:
