thinking of putting a set of trident clocks on the daytona/speedtrip following the whole cooling prob fiasco. the reason for this is
A- whole problem was eventually cured by dropping in the d900 temp guage. weird wiring gremlins we never got to the bottom of!!!

B- i prefer to visibly see what the temps doing with a gauge

C- gauge looks a bit s!@t cable tied to the handle bars!!!

so, thought get some trident clocks with a temp guage.

very slim possibility of actually getting the d900 clocks in the housing, (shame cos i do like the white face clocks) without some serious modding/finger crossing.

so have picked some trident clocks up at a v.good price.

now, i'd rather keep mileage accurate and the trident speedo is around 13k. i've done 30k.

anyway of winding the trident clock on to reach the same mileage? i'm an honest fellow despite the oppourtunity to have a low mileage bike heh heh!!!

also anyone foresee compatibility probs with the trident clocks on a d900?

Well oiled cable to clock, slow to moderate speed drill to other end of cable, maybe a small cooling fan on drill, have at it!

Johnny: Know where to get any more Trident clocks for cheap? (I think the main plastic body inside mine has cracked. Again.)

J98: Do you know if that's forward or reverse on the drill? There was some mention of something like this on the Kawasaki forum I read, & dire consequences were predicted for anyone using the drill on forward. :hammer:

Cheers,
-Kit

Photograph the old clocks and document the change. No one is going to question you telling them the bike has more miles than whats on the odo. An added plus is that you have photo evidence that the clocks were not replaced due to a wreck.

cheers for the replies!
not often a person wants to put miles on- usually how to get 'em off!

apart from my flawless, godfearing, honest as the day personality (ha hah!) having what ever clocks on showing correct mileage helps my poor brain out when ensuring correct servicing is done a right time!

kit- this was a bit of a lucky one- basically as i was looking for cheap housing to possibly butcher for daytona clocks, i didn't want to pay breaker prices. ended up trawling ebay and firing off emails to any one parting out trident bits. got lucky- whole thing £35 delivered. will keep my eyes peeled.

j98- i second the speed direction info!

Direction?......Don't know off hand sitting here, just make sure the cable is turning the same direction as it does when it's connected to the speedo drive on the front wheel while going forward.

thats what i figured- first instinct is that it would turn clockwise, but reading-

"J98: Do you know if that's forward or reverse on the drill? There was some mention of something like this on the Kawasaki forum I read, & dire consequences were predicted for anyone using the drill on forward."

thought it best to scrounge a bit more info!!!

i'll let you know how i get on!!!

Take the cable and housing loose from the underside of the instument, put the bike on the centrestand, raise the front wheel and have a friend spin the front tyre as though the bike were moving forward. Watch the cable-end rotate inside the open end of the housing and you will be able to observe the direction in which the wheel spins the cable.

Other Motorcycle: Can't afford two!
Extra Motorcycle: Three would be insane
usually you turn the input in the same direction as the needle moves - internally it works by a magnet spinning in front of a disc - magnet attached to the cable, disc attached to the needle.

any of the above will take a long time. The usual method is to crack open the speedo and carefully adjust the counter. the wheel sare the same size so the drive should be the same ratio and the speedo should work fine.
