replacing headgasket and sundries.
Anyone one know what make, type, thread conrod bolts are?
Australia has nothing... needs to back ordered, I was hoping I could give make/model pitch and whatever to Keables here in Aust and maybe they could match, then.

Looks like the same bolt was used in the 955s, and I happen to have a 955 piston and con rod on my kitchen table. I'll go measure it; won't take long...
Yeah, they're not exactly hardware store parts. My thread gauge only goes to 0.8 and they're finer than that. One of my parts fiches says 0.75 pitch. Definitely M8x52. Pics follow:

-Kit

Are new bolts spec'ed for the work you're doing? These things look pretty beefy to me; they don't look like they're going anywhere without putting up a pretty serious fight...

Crooky, I have given up on trying to source stuff from Triumph Australia or any dealers - I now go straight to either Sprint or since they are closed for holidays now, I have just put an order in with World of Triumph. Sure they sting you for shipping but the overall cost is not that different and at least you know exactly when they have been ordered and when they leave the UK etc.
Speaking of this sort of thing, have you found a source of Hylomar Blue in Australia - Repco/autopro etc seem to have the spray and the paint on but not the tubes.

Thanks Guys, I found some info on bolts, M8 x 0.75 x 42 but these are for Con rod T1111000.
I have no idea what my con rods are. I've looked at biker-bandit which gave me the above info.
Hylomar I bought it of a guy on ebay, two tubes, could not find a supplier as yet in AUS. I too have bought the spray one and I'll use this for the head gasket, I've been reading the posts and one chap just replaced his head gasket and it leaked... Bad gasket...I too have the same gasket he described...Fuk! I need to get the old girl going, I need to ride! and I need to know it's going to be all right for Phillip Island next year.
It's bloody frustrating......
Haynes manual says if you undo then they need to be replaced....

Sure enough, factory manual promises massive damage if they're reused.
Can you return your head gasket? I'm worried about getting a bad one myself.
Cheers,

Not sure about returning head gasket if it would be cost effective, Might just buy another one here in AUS. This one came as complete kit from BBandit. months ago.
I think I've found four bolts will ring them tomorrow see if they can get two more.
fingers crossed. I have triumph part numbers for bolts and nuts, will post them tomorrow, everything's at work now.

Thanks for the Hylomar tip, Crooky.
I have one place here in town to see if they will order it in (they said they usually/used to stock it so hopefully will be a goer) before I go the fleabay route.

Please let me know if they do get it, I'll be more than happy to but it from them.
That said I hope I don't have to go through this ever again....

Dropped in this morning and they said they will order it and should be here by Monday. I will believe it when I have the tube in my hand. Probably not much different for you to buy from here or from ebay - still going to be postage involved in both.
