Sump Contents - SCARY

Whilst overhaulin' the Speed 3 i decided to check the contents of my sump. It looks like ive been panning for gold. Anyone know what the gold bits are , or the big chunk. Looks too jaggedy to be off a machined part. The black stuff is just old sealant

Feel free to share your sump pics. Ive now scared all the local T3 owners and 955 owners to check theirs in my area.

Do you have an air filter? I've seen worse, but that was after piston #3 exploded.

Sorry, nothing actually useful to add.

Cheers,

Its quite possible that your engine has had something fail or disintegrate and then been repaired by someone who didnt know that the sump filter was there. When I took mine out the mesh was half covered with ground up camchain blade. In fact I found about an inch of the old blade sat in the balancer shaft access hole but thats irrelevent. If the engine isnt burning oil I would grasp at the above straw and forget about it.

I am half way through a rebuild to replace the sprag. My scrap metal trap looked very similar. Terrifying.
