Back in '99 I went up into Canada through Buffalo from South Florida. It was over 3,000 miles and I traveled alone (really alone, no cell phone). I too, had no problems and loved the solitude.
Twice a year, March and October, a few of us get together and explore the Southeast for a week with mileage around 2,000. We usually end up in the Southern Appalachians but not always. In '01 we made a surprise attack on Parris Island, SC.
The only problem I've had is during Gator Gushers (that would be downpours of the first degree to all you non-corn poners). Sometimes the ignition cuts right out for a few minutes. I'm pretty sure I have it traced to the connection from the ignition pick-up sensor. It was sort of loose and dry so I dielectric greased it up and crimped it tight.
We'll see if it works in three weeks, We're off again on a mission and I'm sure we'll see plenty of rain.

That is some serious riding guys, must have been a blast. The longest I took on my previous 95' model was about 1600 miles from Detroit through PA, OH, W. VA, VA, N.C., TN and KY about three years ago.

Hey Mich,
Welcome. Tell me about your '95 Sprint. How long did you have it? How did you like it? How did it treat you?
I have a long term Sprint 900, we could compare notes.

I have had my sprint for a couple of years, it sat at a dealship with 10k on the odomoter and since then i've put on 30k of problem free miles. It's very comfortable, I could(and have) ridden it all day long for weeks at a time.
I am mulling over getting rid of it for a new speed triple, but I know that I would really miss the bike.
The only modification that I really didn't like on it was upsizing to a 180 rear tire, it has made the handling all funky (and me more cautious). I'm going back to the stock as soon as my MeZ4 wears out.
My longest trip was from where I was living near chicago to Las Vegas, around the grand cayon, up the million dollar a mile highway and home. It was about 5k, great trip.

I loved my Sprint! It was very reliable, nothing but tires, fluids and a valve checkup. I put about 14,000 miles on it, it had just less than 5, when I bought it used. It was a very comfortable ride and a great longrider. The only downside was that is quite top heavy, which allot of older Triumphs are.

I had a 96 Sprint which I went all over Europe on. On one occasion we went via France and Germany to Prague in the Czech Republic, then down through Austria and northern Italy and back to the UK. Total miles was about 4k and it did beautifully throughout apart from when 2 spark plugs came loose just as we entered Prague. It meant taking tank off and messing around, bit of a faff.
On another occasion, this time in France, I was following a car at a reasonable distance at approx 90mph when the bedstead on his roof flew off and came my way. Luckily the base and mattress parted in mid air and I was hit head on by the heavily sprung mattress. I ducked and managed to avoid being decapitated, but lost an indicator and got 2 very loose wing mirrors. The Canadian friend following behind was amazed, saying there was a small wobble as it hit, but then the Sprint just kept on going. Built like a tank, these bikes. And beautiful engines!
I finally moved on and got a Tiger a couple of years ago and have had a huge amount of fun on it. Went to Bosnia and Croatia in '01, around 4.5k miles.
Cheers, Dix
