Does anyone know if the Trident 750 was even imported into the U.S.?

No reason it would not have been - exports models have never yet been restricted by country - apart from legislative requirements what everyone else gets is what we get in the UK. But you still missed out on the Daytona 1000 & 750

Thanks for the reply Foxee,

I have been searching the internet classifieds, but only seem to find 900's and even they seem to be rare.

Hey 99tbird:

I can't find anything to back this up right now, but I'm pretty sure the only 750cc Tridents Triumph ever sent stateside came from Meriden. Nothing to do with legal matters & everything to do with the "bigger is better" attitude in the US that's moving so many Rocket IIIs. Supposedly, Triumph didn't think they'd sell here. I seem to recall that Canada got some Hinckley Trident 750s, though. All this is from memory of something I read somewhere, so take it for what it's worth.

Cheers,
-Kit

Thanks Kit, that was kind of my suspicion all along. I read somewhere that the 750's were really good bikes too. I don't mind settling for 900 though, I'm sure it's just as fun and with more power! How do you like your Trident? How long have you owned it? Anything I should look out for when searching for a used one?

Thanks,
Dan

In my totally biased opinion.....you're going to love the 900 engine.

No problem, Dan. If you try the 900, I don't think you'll think of it as "settling".

The 750 was apparently popular in England because it felt "sportier". I think that means it revs higher & is a bit more picky about what gear it's in than the 900. Both bikes make almost the same power; the 900's top speed is 2.4MPH faster than the 750's.

I've had mine for 3 months now, & I just love it! :-D All the standard used bike stuff applies when looking for a Trident; the only model-specific thing that comes to mind is the sidestand bracket. I wish I had replaced mine *before* getting new mirrors... You'll want to replace the sidestand bracket with one from an '01-up Trophy; the earlier brackets were badly designed & will eventually cost you a fortune in mirrors & signals. (Speaking of which, my mirrors & signals are Buell units. Good quality & much less expensive than stock.)

HTH,
-Kit

This question was answered not so long ago, just do a search on here. I have a 1996 750cc Trident with KNN filter and dynojetted, it goes like stink. :-D
